Flying at 1500 feet over the ice of Smith Sound in the summer.
The 24 hour sun has melted much of the snow off the ice leaving it
rough and corrugated
North Greenland
Byrd and Bennett Loening amphibian plane NA-1 at Etah.
The boat was floated ashore, the wheels put down, the plane hauled on the
rocky beach and the wings put on.
