Fruitless Inquiries of
a Whaler
[The Evening Post,
1883]
LONDON, September 14. - The whaling ship Adams,
which has just returned from the Arctic Sea, brings the information that
while on her cruise she made every effort to discover the whereabouts of
the Greely party. Merchison and Whale Sounds and the Carey Islands were
visited, and the Esquimaux were closely questioned at every point in the
hope of eliciting information concerning the missing explorers. No clew,
however, was found.
