The Grave of Joseph Elison
SERG'T OF USA
ATTACHED 1881 TO LEUIT.
GREELY'S ARCTIC EXPEDITION
BORN JAN. 12 1849
BROTHER OF A. ELISON
DIED JULY 8, 1884
AT GODHAVN GREENLAND
AFTER HAVING BEEN RESCUED BY
CMDR. SCHLEY'S RELIEF SQUADRON
Note: Line: "Brother of A. Elison," is very hard to read, and therefore
my best guess.
Location: German Catholic Cemetery, (Yorkville Cemetery)
Pottsville, PA. 20th Street and Mahantongo Street. The exact location is
just inside the middle side entrance from 20th Street, or just beyond
one-half way back, on left side from Mahantongo Street.
This Grave was located through the assistance of
James Urness and Sister Judy Baldino. Thank-you.
Christina McSherry, Jack McSherry, Jr., Michael McSherry,
William McSherry and Jack McSherry, III
