The FRAM was built in 1892 specifically for the Fridtjof Nansen expedition.
 

Length - 127 feet, 9 inches
Beam - 34 feet
Displacement: 402 tons

Engine: Single shaft, triple expansion engine generating 220 horsepower (the
vessel carried sails, so the engine was an auxilairy power source)

Amundsen used her in 1911 in his Antarctic expedition.
